I am a Torres Strait Islander, Mandubarra, Kalkadoon, Wuthathi, and Ngadjon-Jii woman, who was born on Mamu country of North Queensland. My inspiration comes from the strong women that have always been present in my life and is a major reason why I love being able to share my culture through digital design, acrylics on canvas, fashion and accessories.
I have always had a love for different types of arts from all over the world, from as far back as I can remember. I remember drawing and painting when I was young; the colours and details somehow made me feel content. It wasn’t until almost 4 years ago that I decided to do art again since a teenager.
I met and married my amazing husband, who is a Torres Strait Islander man, and that had also got me thinking… I needed to learn more about my own identity and expressing that through art was the best way I knew how. Since then, I have found that learning my culture through my creativity has helped me heal, grow and evolve.
I continue to learn more every day about the history and culture of my people through my art which is my storytelling, my way.
